'Larkspur' Again

Back again on the Broads on Larkspur but this time we brought our Mirror dinghy - Thor 2 - with us. The original Thor had been a Fireball that we'd raced back in the late 60's!

Another good week on the water with plenty to see and do.

A trip up the mast to retrieve the Broads Society flag. Most people use a halyard but not our Mike - he likes to be different!

A couple of photos of Wroxham bridge. No idea when they were taken but it looks as if it was a Larkspur holiday as the blue jib is just visible on the first one, the mast is lowered and we're just about to go through ...

Half-term on 'Larkspur'

We're back where we prefer to be this year - on a yacht! Larkspur was from Colin Facey's yard at Horning and instead of a rowing dinghy the boys had a sailing dinghy to play in and learn to sail.

A Cruiser for a Change!

Two Broads holidays in one year! For the October half-term we chose a cruiser called Compass Maid 1 from Horning. We didn't have the best of weather this time and many of the photos were not good due to the rain so I had to discard them. However there are quite a few to give the flavour of the holiday.

This photo has quite a tale to it. Back in 1953 Mike had his first holiday on the Broads with his parents on a yacht called Orinoco and the story goes that his dad attempted to leave his mooring at Potter Heigham in full sail and forgetting to release the rope from the stake. It has been at this angle ever since and the boys wanted to have their photo taken trying to straighten it!
