Between Showers

We had a short burst of rain early this morning but by the time we left the site it had cleared up. Just as we were getting ready to leave these three chaps came along looking for breakfast …

We crossed Acle Bridge …

and made for Potter Heigham old bridge …

parking up to take Hamish for a walk. We took the path behind the riverside chalets heading north of the village but we never reached the end of it as it went on forever! So we turned around and made our way back to the bridge …

Moored up was this beautiful electric day launch …

We had a chat with the people with her but they didn’t own her. Apparently she was a prototype but proved so popular that the designer now builds them quite regularly - a brilliant mixture of fibreglass and traditional timber. Returning to the car park Mike just couldn’t resist having a look at the boats for sale! I spotted this lovely old Jack Powles launch … a bargain!

We were meeting friends for lunch today and with a bit of time to spare we stopped at Sutton Staithe to have a wander around and look at the boats. Hamish enjoyed a run …

and Mike was once again looking at the noticeboard to see what was for sale!

It was now time to move on to Neatishead where we were meeting Mick and Gilly for lunch at The White Horse. It is a dog-friendly pub and so we had four dogs under the table while we ate and chatted. After a lovely Sunday roast and delicious chocolate fudge pud we came out to find it raining …

After saying our farewells we set off for Irstead Staithe where we parked up for a coffee …

There were Hunter yachts moored up when we arrived but they soon moved on …

Several swans appeared down a dyke opposite the Staithe …

and then came over to see me …

isn’t it gorgeous? On our way back to the site we crossed Wroxham Bridge …
